Harriet Korner

Harriet is a certified PODD Presenter and a registered NDIS Provider, currently working as a speech pathology consultant in private practice in Sydney. Harriet uses an aided language, multimodal approach in her work with children and adults who have complex communication needs.

Harriet completed her Master of Research at Macquarie University in 2019, investigating parent and child outcomes of coaching parents to implement augmentative and alternative communication using PODD communication books at home. Harriet has previously worked for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance, Northcott Disability Services and the Independent Living Centre NSW. Harriet has also worked on:

· Complex Communication Needs: Guidelines for Speech Pathologists who Support People with a Disability, NSW Department of Family and Community Services.

· Collaborative Teamwork for Students with High Support Needs, a continuing education course, Special Education Centre, Macquarie University.

· Communication Programming for Students with Severe Intellectual Disability, a curriculum support document for the NSW Department of Education.

Harriet has presented at international and national conferences on topics related to implementing augmentative and alternative communication and assistive technology.

Harriet is available to present workshops and customised training for PODD communication systems including, 2-day Introductory PODD workshop, 1-day School PODD workshop and Communication Partner PODD workshop. She is available to travel within Sydney, regional NSW and interstate, when feasible.
