Workshops & Training
Learning for Life
CPEC offers an array of workshops and training for families, education settings, allied health professionals, support workers, and other groups/organisations. Workshop topics all have relevance to those people living with cerebral palsy and similar conditions including those with complex communication needs.
Our team provides training in local settings as well nationally and internationally, face-to-face or online. Training offered by CPEC is responsive to community need as well as feedback from participants with new workshops being added.

PODD Workshops and Training
A suite of PODD workshops, developed by Gayle Porter and presented by certified PODD presenters, is available to meet the varied professional learning needs of participants including speech pathologists, education teams, other allied health practitioners and family members.
Teaching Movements for Communication
This 5-day workshop/course explores in depth how movement differences can affect the development of autonomous communication, and the teaching-learning strategies that support learning to move to communicate. This course has been developed by Claire Cotter and Gayle Porter with content input from Fiona Beauchamp and Linda Burkhart.
Kindergarten and Daycare Training sessions
This training is for kindergarten teachers, daycare staff, inclusion support staff who have responsibility for the education and support of a young child with cerebral palsy (and like conditions) at your centre. The use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is also included.
Parent Training
Workshops specifically created for families by the CPEC team are offered throughout the year. If you are a parent of a child with a disability you can use your child’s NDIS plan – capacity building to purchase a registration for these workshops.
Online Portal
The CPEC Learning Place
The CPEC Learning Place currently offers three interactive online learning modules, free to all registrants. These modules have relevance for schools and educators and are designed for self-paced learning.
